Se Yeon Choi
Dear Hiring Committee at Microsoft,
I am writing to apply for the Product Designer II position at Microsoft. With experience spanning Accenture, Deloitte, Yahoo!, and IBM Japan, I have crafted global digital products that merge business goals with intuitive, user-centered experiences. Microsoft’s mission to empower every person and organization resonates with my passion for creating impactful, inclusive solutions.
Designing Scalable Experiences for Global Users
At Accenture, I led UX initiatives for platforms serving over 50 million users, driving projects from concept to launch. Using qualitative and quantitative research methods, including usability testing and heatmap analysis across markets such as Japan, Singapore, and the UK, I identified user pain points and designed solutions that increased user engagement and client satisfaction by up to 100%. Additionally, my experience in HTML/CSS and JavaScript has allowed me to collaborate effectively with engineers, prototype interactive experiences, and ensure design feasibility.
Solving Complex Problems Through Cross-Functional Collaboration
One of my most rewarding projects was redesigning the checkout experience for Samsung users. I served as a sub-lead designer, working closely with stakeholders to address business and legal requirements. I reduced iteration time by 30% through workflow optimization and contributed the team by:
Developing and presenting design proposals to clients across 65+ countries.
Refining the design system for consistency and scalability.
Aligning cross-functional teams through continuous communication.
Providing design support for high-priority situations.
Supporting design and accessibility QA for flawless development.
I am proficient with Figma, Axure, Adobe XD, Zeplin, After Effects, and comfortable working with design tokens and basic front-end components to bridge the gap between design and development.
Building Inclusive and Accessible Experiences
What drives me most is the potential of design to create meaningful change. In school, I developed a care service proposal for the elderly called Voice Care 365, which I presented to the Seoul Metropolitan Government—an experience that reinforced my belief in socially impactful design. Additionally, my five years of volunteer work in special education taught me the importance of accessibility, shaping my approach to creating experiences that are as inclusive as they are functional.
I am excited to bring my global UX expertise, technical fluency, and passion for inclusive design to Microsoft and the VS Code team. Thank you for your time and consideration; I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to creating even more impactful experiences.
Warm regards,
Se Yeon Choi
